2.1 Server Log Files

When you visit our website, our hosting provider (Vercel Inc., San Francisco, CA, USA) automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits. This includes:

• IP address (anonymized after processing)
• Date and time of the request
• URL of the requested page

• Operating system
• Referring URL

This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest) for the purpose of ensuring the security and stability of the website. Log data is not combined with other data sources and is deleted automatically by Vercel after a limited retention period.

2.2 Browser Local Storage

SafetyMargin.io stores the following data in your browser's Local Storage to provide a personalized experience:

• Investment notes — your checklist responses, business analysis, and investment thesis per stock ticker
• DCF scenarios — your customized valuation parameters per stock ticker
• Recent tickers — the last 10 stock tickers you analyzed
• Theme preference — light or dark mode setting

This data never leaves your browser. It is stored exclusively on your device using the Web Storage API. We do not have access to this data, it is not transmitted to our servers, and it is not shared with any third party. You can delete this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest — providing core functionality of the tool).

2.3 Financial Data (Yahoo Finance)

When you analyze a stock, our server fetches financial data from the Yahoo Finance API. This request is made server-to-server — your personal data (IP address, browser information, etc.) is not transmitted to Yahoo Finance. Only the stock ticker symbol is sent in the API request.

3. Cookies

SafetyMargin.io does not set any first-party cookies. We do not use any tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may set strictly necessary technical cookies for load balancing and security purposes.

4. Analytics

We use two privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics methods to understand how the service is used and improve it:

a) Vercel Analytics — a client-side analytics service provided by Vercel Inc. that collects anonymous, aggregated usage data.

b) Server-side page view logging — our server records page visits (path, referrer, and country derived from server headers) in a database. This runs entirely on our infrastructure and does not involve any third-party tracking scripts.

Both methods collect:

• Page views (which pages are visited)
• Referrer information (where visitors come from)
• Country (aggregated, not individually identifiable)

Neither method uses cookies, collects personal data, or tracks individual users across sessions. No IP addresses are stored in our analytics database. This means no cookie consent banner is required under GDPR.
